Criminal Charges
What It Means
These are charges brought by the government involving criminal activity. The penalty for these charges can be a fine or jail. These cases do not involve disputes over money between individuals, although sometimes these kinds of disputes can lead to a criminal charge. Crimes can be either misdemeanors or felonies.
What To Do
Contact a Lawyer. If you are contacted by the police about a potential charge or alleged crime, if you are subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury, if you are arrested by the police and given a court date or released from jail on bond, or if you are told to turn yourself in to the police, you should seek the services of an attorney.
Our Fees
We often handle criminal cases for a flat fee, while in some cases, we may ask that clients pay a retainer which will be applied to an hourly fee.
